Gilford says DPW building remains on track for August occupancy; bond interest must be spent

Public Works Director Meghan Theriault told the Board of Selectmen on June 10 that construction on the Department of Public Works building is progressing and remains on schedule for occupancy in August. Theriault said the second half of the garage slab and the front footings and frost walls have been poured, HVAC installation in the administrative wing is near completion, electrical work and rough-in plumbing are ongoing, and interior finishes are being ordered.
Theriault said masons have returned to finish masonry walls and that the ceiling and sheetrock installation have begun. She told the Board the project remains on track both for the projected August occupancy date and relative to the approved budget.
Town Administrator Scott Dunn reported the Town earned $279,019.33 in interest on the DPW project bond. He said, under IRS regulations, those funds must be spent and that the town is working on a campus-paving plan that would use available funds; details will be presented to the Selectmen in the future.
No formal Board vote was required for the construction update or the informational report about bond interest; the Board will consider specific spending plans in later sessions.
