Copper Mountain board accepts clean audit, approves financial statements and hears staff project updates

The Copper Mountain Consolidated Metropolitan District Board unanimously accepted the 2025 audit and approved the March and April financial statements at its May 29 meeting.
Eric Weaver of Marchetti & Weaver told the board the audit “went smoothly with no adjustments” and that the district received a “clean” or “unmodified” determination; the board agreed to accept the audit subject to final review and to expect formal correspondence confirming the result.
Eric reviewed recent financials and explained lower-than-budgeted interest revenue and an increase in Rental & Other General Fund income tied largely to a renegotiated SFE lease that sets a flat fee of $25,000 per quarter. Director Sprinkle asked about a $64,138 discrepancy between the AP report and the Combined P&L, and Clerk-Treasurer Carolyn Russo said a topside entry had been made and staff will investigate further.
The board agreed that Carolyn Russo will take over regular presentation of the financial reports going forward, with Eric working behind the scenes as a consultant. The board also unanimously approved minutes for January 30 and March 27, 2026.
District Manager Abigail Tietjen reported the sidewalk project contractor selection (Columbine Hills Construction) and an estimated cost of roughly $900,000 with completion expected by fall 2026. She said an SFE lease amendment will go before SFE’s board on June 16 and, if signed, the amendment would go into effect Jan. 1, 2026 and retro the first two quarters. CMRA approved the Post Office relocation expense with construction to begin the Tuesday after Labor Day and a projected mid-October completion. Tietjen said she will continue pursuing the playground project by focusing first on building bathrooms this summer and requested the board’s continued support.
The board recorded operational updates from Public Works staff on bridge and well repairs and recognized staff certification milestones; no further formal actions were taken on those operational items.
