Council accepts clean audit, reappoints Board of Public Works members

The Broken Bow City Council on June 9 approved the annual audit for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025, after an overview from Bob Meyer of RJ Meyer & Associates, LLC.
Meyer told the council the audit produced an unmodified, clean opinion and commended city staff for their cooperation. He said the city has a strong cash position overall and has not taken on new debt. Meyer noted the budget was exceeded by about $59,000 because of a power plant explosion; he said that excluding insurance proceeds related to that incident, the proprietary (utility) side would have essentially broken even. He recommended continued evaluation of water, sewer and electric rates to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
The council also reappointed Chad Schall, Scott Adams and Jeff Withrow to the Board of Public Works for terms ending June 2029, and appointed Alecs Rumery and Justin French to the board for terms ending June 2029. All votes recorded in the transcript were unanimous among the members present.
