Putnam County commissioners voted June 9 to vacate a platted but undeveloped segment of Pine Street in Lakeside Hill Section 10 and to accept a drainage easement tied to the action.
County staff explained the parcel is undeveloped and that the applicant owns surrounding properties; no utilities or emergency‑service objections were filed in the packet. Patricia Ketch, a nearby property owner, said she is concerned about emergency and seasonal access based on previous hurricane damage to a tree that blocked the path: "That's my biggest concern, is for those people that ... my tree fell across this the road, and the people that own the home had to drive through my property to get out." Carly Dennison, who lives off Maple Terrace, told the board the section has been overgrown for years and said a gated access and cleanup could improve drainage and reduce off‑road use.
Staff and the applicant said the property owner proposed a gate and that the county and emergency services would retain access if needed. After public comment the board moved to accept the vacate request, approved the associated drainage easement and directed staff to prepare a resolution (Resolution 2026‑041) vacating the portion of Pine Street. Chair announced the motion carries by voice vote.
The board noted the measure preserves public access for utilities and emergency responders while formally removing the county's maintenance responsibility for the platted but unused right‑of‑way.
