The Waukesha City Ordinance and Licensing Committee approved a class A beer and class A liquor license for Furious Inc. and granted temporary class B licenses for the citys Chamber event on Oct. 19. The committee voted unanimously to approve both items during its Sept. 23 meeting.
The license for Furious Inc. was presented to the committee and, after the City Attorneys office reported no objections, a committee member moved to approve the application "as presented." The motion was seconded and the chair stated the motion passed unanimously.
Robin Graham of the City of Waukesha Community Development Department described the Chambers annual event, scheduled Oct. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m., and emphasized operational limits for temporary licenses. "Alcohol doesn't leave the premises," Graham said. "It's gotta be served and drank inside and no open carrying on the streets." Graham also confirmed this is the sixth year of the event and staff provided a list of participating addresses to the committee.
Alderson Helensleben moved to approve the temporary licenses with an amendment specifying that the licensed premises for the temporary class B licenses be limited to the interior of the establishments listed in the meeting agenda; Alderson Mannion seconded. The chair announced the amendment and the approval passed unanimously.
The approvals include a procedural clarification from staff that the temporary licenses apply only to the interior areas of the listed businesses, and that alcohol may not be openly carried or consumed on adjacent public streets. Committee members noted past compliance at the event when supporting the motion.
The committee moved on to other business and then adjourned. No additional conditions or follow-up reports were recorded on these agenda items.
