Clerk Mary Pothast announced at the March 9 meeting that Jessica Horn and the Melbourne Library playground secured a $7,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Marshall County; a presentation of the award is scheduled for March 24. The minutes attribute the grant announcement to the clerk and identify Jessica Horn in connection with the playground.
The council set garage sale and spring craft sale dates for June 6 and said signup sheets for the citywide garage sale will be made available closer to the date; craft vendors should contact Jessica at the Melbourne Library. Council members also discussed America’s 250 Bicycle Relay, a coast-to-coast event in the summer of 2026, and asked whether a local group could meet the relay riders and possibly provide drinks or a meal; dates are uncertain but the council expressed interest in participating.
The council did not adopt a budget line or make a formal commitment to host relay riders at this meeting.
