Anna council hears updates on parks, public works, bank changes and planning; pickleball fundraising shortfall noted

Council members gave routine departmental reports and discussed several ongoing projects and old-business items at the Village of Anna’s Aug. 13 meeting.
Mayor Cindy Naseman thanked volunteers and participants for Making National Night Out and said she will attend her first library meeting; the Storybook Trail is up though not yet complete. Administrator William Kessler reported that Honda will hold a company picnic at Anna Park on Aug. 24 and that public works will increase splash-pad cleaning to at least once a month. Kessler also said Dominion Gas was notified of potential development on the east side of the interstate and that staff will follow up on Mill Street paving and crack sealing, which is scheduled to begin in the fall.
Fiscal Officer Stacy Meyer told council that the US Bank branch in Anna will close Oct. 2; the Village plans to move accounts to F&M Bank and a representative from F&M's treasury department will meet next week to discuss deposit services. The safe-deposit box at US Bank has already been closed.
In committee reports, the Safety & Refuse committee said a traffic light has been repaired and the invoice will be submitted to insurance. The committee also reported that a $7,000 safety grant for a crosswalk at Timber Trail was approved and noted that the Ohio Department of Transportation would cover much of the cost if the Village adopts ODOT-standard signs. The committee said it had received three quotes to remove bats from Town Hall and recommended awarding the contract conditioned on a one-year warranty (the award itself was acted on later in the meeting).
Under old business, council members said pickleball organizers still need approximately $16,000 to move the project forward and have applied for a Community Foundation grant. Council discussed three properties with significant sidewalk/concrete problems attributed to Jagger Construction; a letter has been sent to Jagger and the administrator reported that Jagger had been asked to re-seed disturbed areas. Brine equipment for winter maintenance has been ordered and the Village is waiting on scheduling for installation; prices for a storage brine tank were obtained. Solar-panel and cannabis regulation discussions were noted as items that will require public meetings, and a property owner has offered land for potential additional wells to expand water supply.
The meeting concluded with motions approving minutes and financial reports and the formal actions to award the bat-removal contract and to authorize transfer and liquidation of donated stock.
