The Big Bear City Community Services District Board of Directors adopted Resolution 2025-22 at its Oct. 6, 2025 regular meeting, setting the district's CalPERS employer contribution for calendar year 2026 at up to $2,421.24 per month for miscellaneous employees.
Human Resources Manager and Board Secretary Morgan Szabad reported the resolution "establishes the employer's contribution amount for each employee or annuitant" at the amount necessary to pay the cost of their enrollment, including coverage for family members, in a CalPERS health benefit plan for 2026. Szabad also noted that employer contribution maximums for safety retirees are determined annually by the Big Bear Fire Authority.
The motion to adopt Resolution 2025-22 was made by Director Larry Walsh and seconded by Director JoKay Rowe. The Board adopted the resolution by unanimous vote (AYES: B. Rowe, J. Rowe, Russo, Walsh, Ziegler). The resolution repeals Resolution 2024-14 and fixes the employer's contribution under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care Act for the district; the full text is filed in the BBCCSD Resolution and Ordinance Book Number 37.
The change affects district employees and annuitants whose health coverage is provided through CalPERS and establishes the district's maximum monthly contribution for miscellaneous employees for budgeting and payroll purposes for calendar year 2026. No public comment was received on the item. The Board adjourned at 5:09 p.m.
