North Butler school board approves routine policies, personnel changes and two early graduations

The North Butler Community School District Board of Education met Dec. 8, 2025, in the Allison School Media Center. President Ty Crawford-Miller called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.; board members Dan Engels, Sara Henrichs and Heather Shook were present, and Jordan Nolz was absent. Superintendent Bryan Boysen and district administrators also attended.
The board moved quickly through routine business. On a motion by Heather Shook, seconded by Dan Engels, the board approved the meeting agenda. The board then unanimously approved minutes from Nov. 17, Nov. 20 and Nov. 25, 2025, and accepted the November 2025 financial reports and the December 2025 bill listing (motion by Dan Engels, seconded by Sara Henrichs).
Personnel actions included acceptance of the resignation of Shane Buss from the junior high football position and approval of Elizabeth Mathers as a substitute pending completion of a background check and required paperwork (motion by Heather Shook, seconded by Dan Engels).
Board members approved first readings and waived second readings on multiple policies. The board approved the first reading of policy 503.08 (District Response to Threat or Incident of Violence by a Student), 501.09 (Chronic Absenteeism and Truancy), 506.01 (Student Records Access) and 503.09 (Personal Electronic Devices) and waived a second reading (motion by Heather Shook, seconded by Dan Engels). The board also approved first readings of the 700 series (Noninstructional and Business Services) and 800 series (Buildings & Sites) policies and waived a second reading (motion by Sara Henrichs, seconded by Heather Shook).
The board approved the 2025–26 Teacher Quality meeting notes and the School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) minutes as presented (motion by Heather Shook, seconded by Sara Henrichs). It also approved the district’s Annual Community Report on Progress on State Indicators (motion by Dan Engels, seconded by Sara Henrichs).
The board approved early graduation requests from Alvin Addleman and Emilia Siemons, contingent upon each student completing all state and local requirements for graduation (motion by Sara Henrichs, seconded by Heather Shook).
President Crawford-Miller adjourned the meeting at 6:24 p.m. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Greene Media Center.
