North Butler board adopts $11.14010 certified budget, moves $70,699.39 from flexibility account

The North Butler Community School District Board of Education on April 13 adopted the district's 2026-27 certified budget at a combined rate of $11.14010 per $1,000 of taxable valuation and approved a Budget Guarantee Board Resolution under Iowa Code section 257.14.

Board President Ty Crawford-Miller called a public hearing on the proposed property tax rate and the certified budget; no members of the public spoke. The board then voted on the certified budget. The motion to adopt the combined 2026-27 certified budget passed unanimously on roll call. Members voting in the affirmative were Sara Henrichs, Jordan Nolz, Ty Crawford-Miller, Dan Engels and Heather Shook.

Separately, the board approved a resolution to transfer $70,699.39 from the district's flexibility account into the general account. The resolution notes the funds originated from excess FY2025 professional-development dollars, states statutory requirements for those funds have been met, and records that an approved copy of the board resolution will be submitted to the Iowa Department of Education. The transfer passed by unanimous roll call.

During the meetings the board opened public hearings on both the certified budget and the flexibility-account expenditure; each hearing drew no public response and was closed promptly. The board's actions on the budget, the Budget Guarantee Resolution and the flexibility-account transfer were all approved by formal motions and recorded roll-call votes.

The board said it will submit the required documentation to state officials as part of the certified-budget and flexibility-account processes. The board adjourned later in the evening; the next regular meeting is scheduled for May 13, 2026.
