For Bishop’s Peak, staff said the work this summer will demolish two classroom buildings and replace them with a 12‑classroom stick‑built building constructed by RSH Contractors. The staff presentation described the GMP (excluding allowances and contingency) at $9,757,097.82; demolition is scheduled to occur over the summer with the goal that the site be ready to start construction when school resumes. Trustees approved the GMP by a 6‑0 vote.
For Del Mar Elementary, staff described moving three portables for temporary housing, demolishing an existing child‑care room and older portables, constructing a retaining wall and preparing utility and playground work for phase two. The GMP presented (excluding contingency) for the Del Mar modular and site work was $2,561,502. Trustees approved the sublease amendment setting that GMP 6‑0.
Staff emphasized coordination with site administrators to maintain summer school and other on‑site activities during demolition and construction; temporary classrooms will be placed as needed and work sequencing is planned to minimize disruption.
Both approvals were described as part of the district’s ongoing Measure C implementation across 94 projects and are funded by bond proceeds. The board’s motion carried unanimously for both items.
Next steps: staff will manage construction schedules, process payments in the established schedule, and report progress to the board as the projects advance through DSA approvals and into active construction.
