The Brighton Town Board voted unanimously on a slate of routine business at its June 24, 2026 meeting, approving claims, contracts and one-time budget adjustments before adjourning into executive session to discuss personnel and tax certiorari matters.
Clara, speaking for Finance and Administrative Services, reported that she had reviewed claims totaling $815,230.70, noting roughly $115,000 of the total was for asphalt paving and patching. She moved to approve the claims; the motion passed on a roll call with Council members Werner, Curado, Salsman, Sanginetti and the supervisor voting in the affirmative.
The board also adopted a resolution to accept a $300 donation from Council member Nate Salsman for the 2026 Brighton community bike ride and amended the recreation department budget to reflect the gift. The motion was moved, seconded and approved without objection.
The board authorized the supervisor to enter into a contract with Interpretch for American Sign Language services, a measure the finance committee had reviewed earlier in the month. The board also approved a change order with Milstone Construction Partners for the Town Hall renovation in an amount not to exceed $2,623; members discussed whether window trim should be painted or left natural to match surrounding finishes before voting to approve the extra.
Separately, the board approved updated fee schedules for planning and zoning board applications, building permits and operational fire permits and inspections; the changes were proposed to take effect on July 1 after committee review to reflect increased staff time and costs.
Finally, the board authorized submission of an application to Monroe County’s Community Climate Action Fund pilot grant to support the town tree nursery and tree ambassador programs. The application seeks up to 50% of a $13,000 project budget (up to $6,500). Board members noted the application had been submitted because of timing but confirmed the board’s support and the town’s potential match obligation.
At the meeting’s close, Town Attorney John asked the board to go into executive session to discuss two pending tax certiorari matters and the employment of a particular person; the motion to enter executive session passed unanimously and the board left the public session. The board scheduled its next meeting for Wednesday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m.
