Trail survey tops 2,000 responses; county to add assurance signs and notes strong early Birkie registration

Cathy Lareau told the Sawyer County Economic Development and UW-Extension Committee on Aug. 5 that the county’s motorized and non-motorized trail survey exceeded 2,000 responses and that no major issues were reported with opening county roads, although there has been confusion specifically on LCO roads.
Lareau said the county will install assurance signs this fall to show riders they are on approved routes. Tom Duffy reported an early Birkie registration count of about 8,000 participants, called Lumberjack Fest a success and noted the Telemark Base Camp grand opening celebration is scheduled for Aug. 17.
The committee received the reports; no formal action was taken during the meeting.
