Town clerk reports $165,000 in unpaid 2025 taxes; board notes Besse Building repairs

Town Clerk Jeanie Dore told the Selectboard on March 24 that the town checkbook balance was about $600,000, which she described as normal for this time of year, and that roughly $165,000 in property taxes from 2025 remain unpaid.
Dore said 30-day notices will be issued on April 10; if taxes remain unpaid after that deadline the town will place liens on the properties in default, per routine collection procedure noted in the minutes.
The board also approved ordering 'No ATV Access' and 'No Trespassing' signs for the school property to restrict unauthorized vehicle access and trespass. In addition, members discussed floor and tile repairs at the Besse Building, including covering entrances with mats and replacing damaged tiles where needed; Chairman Jason Dow said he would repair a rental kitchen fan.
Selectboard Member Paul Flynn used the member-concerns portion of the agenda to mark his final meeting on the board; members recorded his departure in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
