Cooke County commissioners approve semiquincentennial resolution, subdivision plats and routine administrative items; HR to extend EMS chief offer

The Cooke County Commissioners Court met June 22 and approved several routine and ceremonial items.
The court read a resolution recognizing the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence (the semiquincentennial) and approved it by voice vote, 5-0. The court also granted permission for the Rebecca Crockett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, to assemble on the courthouse east steps on July 8 for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence; Glenda, speaking for the group, asked for the permit and the court approved the request unanimously.
The court approved the consent agenda with no items pulled.
On administrative matters, commissioners approved out-of-state travel for Investigator Nick McGregor to attend the TAFTI motor vehicle theft conference in Norman, Oklahoma (Sept. 28'Oct. 2), with the trip paid from LOC funds rather than county general funds. The court also approved the sheriff's request to move funds from salary accounts into overtime accounts and adopted a related budget amendment to cover overtime due to vacancies.
The court approved both the preliminary and final plats for Ridge Top Estates in Precinct 1 (County Road 155) after brief procedural clarification about whether the preliminary approval had been recorded previously.
Following an executive session, the court returned to the public meeting and authorized HR (Elizabeth Hookton) to send an offer to the chosen EMS chief candidate, pending acceptance. Several motions and votes during the meeting were recorded as unanimous (5-0).
Procedural details: motions to adopt the semiquincentennial resolution and to approve plats and budget adjustments carried by voice vote with the court recording 5-0 on each. The meeting adjourned at 11:08 a.m.
