Richland council approves fire protection agreement, lease, equipment transfer, stop sign and budget amendment

The council approved Resolution 05-11-26 (3) to dispose of and transfer ownership of a fire truck to Richland Township and to correct an error in title ownership. The motion was made by Joe Adrian and seconded by Steve Pfeifer and carried by a 5-0 roll-call vote.
Council members also approved Resolution 05-11-26 (4), establishing a stop sign on S Richland Street at the intersection with S College Street. The motion was made by Cyndia Crafton, seconded by Joe Adrian, and passed 5-0.
On budget matters, the council adopted Resolution 05-11-26 (5), a budget amendment for the fiscal year ending 2026. The amendment was approved on a motion by Cyndia Crafton, seconded by Jim Gaines, with a 5-0 vote.
Other routine items approved during the meeting included consent agenda items (minutes, claims and several permits) approved on a motion by Steve Pfeifer and seconded by Cyndia Crafton (5 ayes) and a building permit for 200 E South St approved on a motion by Steve Pfeifer, seconded by Jim Gaines (5 ayes).
Next procedural steps noted at the meeting included administrative follow-up by City Clerk Sarah Claeys on a collections matter tied to a former Tennessee defendant related to a derelict building reimbursement; no timeline for collection was provided at the meeting.
