South Bloomfield council to pursue sidewalk grants; SR316 path discussed

Village Administrator Joe Allen told council that ODOT District 6 has reached out about sidewalks and he plans to pursue multiple funding sources, including 80/20 grants, potential federal funds and MORPC support. Allen cautioned that he is uncertain whether some federal or MORPC funds can be used as part of the local match; he set a Nov. 30 application deadline for at least one grant program. Council voted to direct Allen to pursue the grants.
Council members also raised earlier conversations about a walk/bike path along SR316 between Ashville and South Bloomfield. Ken Everts said he had heard a resident would attend a future meeting to discuss the path and noted grant money may be available for that project; Mayor Aaron Thomas said he will forward the materials he has about previous discussions, including the possibility of purchasing property from the Reed farm as a joint venture with Ashville.
