Red Oak departments report tornado repairs, DNR sanitary survey with no deficiencies; audit and budget schedule outlined

Street Superintendent Chris Baird and Water & Sewer Superintendent Clint Roland updated the Red Oak City Council on repairs and system maintenance at the Feb. 3 meeting.
Baird reported completed repairs to city buildings damaged by the May 2024 tornado and said staff remain engaged with FEMA coordination. He also described replacement of street lights with LED fixtures, continuing street repairs and an equipment demonstration conducted with Headstart.
Roland summarized the Iowa DNR Sanitary Survey report, which the transcript records as showing no deficiencies. He also reported ongoing water-meter upgrades and routine equipment maintenance.
City Administrator Lisa Kotter provided several administrative notices: Hotel/Motel grant applications are due Feb. 28; police will observe vehicle speeds on 8th Street following resident concerns; the city plans demolition of a fire-damaged home on Market Street; the city's financial audit is scheduled Feb. 4–6; and FY26 budget meetings are set for Feb. 17, Feb. 24 and March 3.
