County ratifies May tax sale, approves BOE valuation adjustments and refunds $63,465

At its June 8 meeting the Duchesne County Commission ratified results from the May tax sale, approved four Board of Equalization valuation changes for specific parcels, authorized a refund for a double tax payment and approved county vouchers.
Clerk‑Auditor Chelise Curtis and Treasurer Stephen Potter presented the May tax sale summary: 46 parcels sold and $77,719.85 collected in back taxes; the commission voted to ratify the sale. Curtis also presented four BOE valuation adjustments with parcel identifiers and revised measurements or values: parcel 00‑0027‑3833 (acreage changed from 5 to 1; tax unchanged), parcel 00‑0026‑6951 (greenbelt market value $79,499, acreage 23.GZ3 market value $85,415; old tax $26.96, new tax $71.59), parcel 00‑0026‑4279 (greenbelt and primary land values merged; greenbelt value set to $8,310, LR01 code market value changed to $31,500; old tax $1,644.91, new tax $1,584.89), and parcel 00‑0034‑0982 (square footage corrected from 10 to 660; BS05 value changed from $5,913.00 to $23,055.00; old tax $588.10, new tax $771.83). The Commission approved the BOE adjustments as presented.
Deputy Assessor Brandi Winterton explained that both the lessee (NYDIG) and the lessor (Stoneridge) paid property taxes on equipment; the county approved refunding $63,465.18 to NYDIG for the double payment. Deputy Clerk‑Auditor Oaklee Larsen presented vouchers (check numbers 173096 through 173191) totaling $1,130,342.20, which the commission approved. The commission also approved the June 1 meeting minutes with corrections.
All recorded motions for these finance items passed by unanimous vote of Commissioners Tracy Killian, Jeff Chugg and Greg Miles. No further fiscal policy changes were made at the meeting.
