The Duchesne County Commission on June 22 approved a slate of routine and project-specific measures, from grant awards to contract extensions and property‑tax corrections.
Chair Greg Miles and Commissioners Jeff Chugg and Tracy Killian voted unanimously to ratify an invoice from SCI Automation, Inc. covering electrical work for the county’s new wash plant, authorizing payment of $68,329.89 from Fund 41. Public Works Director Mike Casper presented the invoice and described the work required to energize the new facility.
The commission approved two road approach permits — A26‑046 (residential) and A26‑047 (commercial, already constructed but to be brought up to county standard) after Public Works Deputy Director Clint Curtis described the locations and requirements.
Economic Development Director Kori Wilde presented a Main Street Matching Grant application from Nourish requesting $10,000 to complete business upgrades. The Commission approved the grant 3‑0.
Deputy Attorney Grant Charles presented Resolution No. 26‑04, which amends the Cedarview‑Montwell Special Service District’s board membership from seven to five members at the district’s request due to difficulty filling vacancies; the Commission adopted the resolution unanimously.
Commissioners approved an extension of a lobbying and consulting contract with Allen Freemyer related to the rail project. The agreement covers a pro rata $2,500 for June and then $5,000 per month through Dec. 31, 2026; Chair Miles was authorized to sign.
Clerk‑Auditor Chelise Curtis presented Board of Equalization valuation and residency adjustments affecting multiple parcels; the Commission approved the BOE changes as presented. The minutes list parcel identifiers and old/new tax amounts for each adjustment.
Routine fiscal actions were approved: vouchers (checks 173192–173315) totaling $773,077.36 and payroll for the period ending June 6, 2026, totaling $624,943.98. The Commission also approved minutes from the June 8 meeting (with corrections), two volunteer appointments and revised volunteer application forms for general volunteers and firefighters.
Votes at a glance: all motions recorded in the minutes passed by a 3‑0 vote (Chair Miles, Commissioner Chugg, Commissioner Killian) unless noted otherwise in the record.
The meeting recessed at 10:09 a.m., reconvened at 10:37 a.m., and adjourned at 12:30 p.m. Two closed sessions (personnel and pending litigation) were convened and concluded with no action taken.
