Duchesne County appoints workforce representative and awards Main Street matching grants

The Duchesne County Commission on Monday appointed Judi Collins to a vacant workforce seat on the county Economic Advisory Board and approved two Main Street Matching Grant applications intended to support small businesses in downtown Duchesne.
Economic Development Director Kori Wilde recommended Collins for the advisory‑board vacancy, citing her experience in workforce issues. The commission unanimously approved the appointment.
Wilde also presented two matching grant requests. Vengeance Powersports applied for $10,000 to support building and site upgrades at a recently purchased location in town; Wilde said the work included dirt work, asphalt, fencing, lighting, HVAC, a symmetric lift and signage, with local contractors completing about 80% of the work. Higher Healing Energetics requested $5,000 for equipment and tenant‑improvement purchases including shelving, therapy equipment and an infrared sauna. Commissioners voted to approve both grants unanimously.
Wilde said both projects involved repurposing underused space and supporting local contractors. The awards will be administered through the county's Main Street Matching Grant program; no additional county funding changes were presented at the meeting.
