Red Oak council adopts Floodplain Management ordinance

The Red Oak City Council on Nov. 18 adopted Ordinance #639, Floodplain Management, on its third and final reading.
Councilmember Tim Fridolph moved adoption; Councilmember Brian Bills seconded the motion. The ordinance passed on a roll-call vote recorded as all ayes.
At the meeting the administration report also noted the city is clarifying codes related to floodplain matters while continuing repairs to city utility buildings after tornado damage earlier in the year; staff indicated they are working with FEMA on recovery from the May 2024 tornado.
The ordinance language and specific code changes were not read into the record at length during the council meeting; staff will provide additional information as requested and as implementation proceeds.
