Wellesley Board of Health seeks broader distribution and feedback on Community Health Assessment

The Wellesley Board of Health on Jan. 22 discussed how to distribute its recently completed Community Health Assessment and how to solicit community input.
Linda Oliver Grape, PA-C, MPH, vice chair, said the board should ‘‘get the report out to the community’’ and suggested a deeper dive into the data. Marcia Testa Simonson, MPH, MPhil, PhD, chair, asked whether a comment or feedback mechanism could be added; Jhana Wallace, MPH, Community Health Coordinator, said a feedback form could be added to the department website. Dr. Shira Doron, MD, noted prior discussion of preparing an executive summary to highlight key findings; Dr. Simonson offered to write that summary.
Board members recommended printing hard copies and distributing them to town peers and partners, including the Council on Aging (COA), police, fire, Select Board, Advisory Board and the school community; Ms. Oliver Grape also suggested providing copies to people interviewed for the assessment. Staff did not identify a firm dissemination date at the meeting.
Next steps: staff will add a feedback option to the website and Dr. Simonson will draft an executive summary; the board did not vote on the dissemination plan at the Jan. 22 meeting.
