Human services updates: elder‑abuse, Alzheimer’s and small grants support local services

Brynna Watters-Moffitt told the advisory committees that the Aging and Disability section and Public Health had received multiple small grants and program funds to support prevention and caregiver services.
She said Public Health and the ADRC-N each received $5,000 in mini-grant funding for preventive-health collaboration; outreach ideas discussed included a Harbor Table event covering tick-borne illness, diabetes awareness and elder-abuse prevention. Watters-Moffitt also reported that two newer Adult Protective Services case managers are continuing to learn their roles and that new documentation software is being used.
The meeting record lists an Elder Abuse Grant totaling $12,083 to support services such as respite, hotel stays and other allowable services for people experiencing abuse, neglect or financial exploitation. In addition, the Aging Unit receives GWAAR funding to support people 60 and older with dementia and caregivers; an additional Alzheimer’s grant of $13,311 was announced to assist residents most in need.
Watters-Moffitt noted specialized transportation services remain stable, referenced '85.21 grant funding allocations' and named partners (BART, Bluegoose, Namekagon, Red Cliff) that support rider needs. No formal policy changes or new countywide program adoptions were recorded at the Feb. 24 meeting; the items were presented for information and operational planning.
