Denton trustees hold public hearing, introduce zoning ordinance revision for first reading

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees opened a public hearing at 6:35 p.m. on May 21 to discuss proposed revisions to the village zoning regulations and official zoning map prepared by Miller & Associates. Trustee Amanda Fangmeier motioned to open the hearing and Trustee Ryan Osborn seconded; the motion carried.
Jason Combs of Miller & Associates Consulting Engineers, P.C. presented the proposed amendments, including updates to the official zoning map for the village and its extraterritorial jurisdiction. The board heard discussion from citizens in attendance during the hearing and closed the hearing at 7:16 p.m. on a motion by Fangmeier, seconded by Osborn.
Fangmeier then moved, and Chair Joe Hobelman seconded, to introduce Ordinance No. 26-5-1 and hold its first reading; the motion carried. The ordinance is described in the meeting minutes as "AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF DENTON, NEBRASKA, TO ADOPT THE ZONING REGULATIONS AND OFFICIAL ZONING MAP FOR THE VILLAGE OF DENTON, NEBRASKA AND FOR THAT AREA WITHIN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF ITS CORPORATE LIMITS AS PREPARED BY MILLER & ASSOCIATES CONSULTING ENGINEERS, P.C." The board scheduled a second reading for the June 1, 2026 meeting.
