Highland honors retiring deputy city clerk and recognizes state‑champion dance team

At its June 2 meeting the Highland City Council presented a plaque to retiring Deputy City Clerk Lana Hediger and Mayor Hemann recognized the Highland High School Varsity Dance Team for winning IDTA State Championships in Jazz and Open Pom.
Mayor Kevin Hemann presented a highway recognition sign and congratulated the Highland High School Varsity Dance Team for winning IDTA State Championships in Jazz and Open Pom; the team had earlier won IHSA Sectional championships. Coaches Erin Cotto and Carrie Eilerman introduced the girls in attendance.
City Manager Conrad announced that Deputy City Clerk Lana Hediger had submitted a letter of intent to retire and praised Hediger’s long service, saying she had "kept me from embarrassing myself" and had advised staff and attorneys on proper procedures. The council presented Hediger with a plaque of appreciation. Lana Hediger responded, "I had so many people tell me so many nice things today, and I greatly appreciate them."
Those recognitions were part of the meeting’s ceremonial items before the council moved to routine business and votes.
