Resident presses council for plan after repeated washouts at Village Road beach access; officials cite preliminary bulkhead design

A long-time resident told the council the Village Road beach entrance "takes a beating every winter" and pressed officials for a short- and long-term plan after a year with no visible progress. The resident said limited mobility makes repeated washouts a continuing hardship.

The resident, Terry Santo, said the township had promised a plan a year earlier and that no public update had appeared on the township website. He asked whether the township had short-term or long-term actions scheduled to address the recurring washouts and access challenges.

Council members acknowledged Village Road is an "anomaly" that is difficult to stabilize and said the township has a preliminary design for a bulkhead with steps; they said a ramp likely would be infeasible at that location. Council also said the township moved an emergency access point to Wildwood Avenue and widened a path to allow rescue equipment access. No timeline or funding source was provided in the public remarks.

One council member said the township would seek funding and work on design details but declined to commit to a date for repairs or whether existing emergency-access signs would be removed until site evaluations are complete. The council asked the resident to return for updates and said staff will continue to pursue permitting and funding.
