Superintendent outlines bills to track, ESC celebration, Paradise Elementary grant and mascot survey

Daphne said the administration will continue to watch PA House Bill 41 — a bipartisan measure that passed the Pennsylvania House by 178–23 and would allow the PIAA to separate playoffs and championships for boundary (traditional public) schools and non‑boundary private/charter/parochial schools as it proceeds through the Senate Education Committee. She also noted that the YIAAA has been renamed to the South Central Atlantic Conference (SCAC), a regional athletics development.
On district facilities and community engagement, Daphne announced the district has a final agreement of sale for the ESC building and will partner with the Historical Preservation Society for a closing celebration on July 30 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., including a final ringing of the bell.
She reported that the district continues work on a Paradise Elementary project and is preparing a grant application with Site Logic; staff requested support letters from townships and community groups and encouraged collaborative stakeholder submissions. Daphne also said the district will distribute a community mascot survey for two weeks to gather ideas for a human‑style mascot to complement the district’s existing “Rockets” identity, with a possible unveiling at homecoming.
Daphne closed by reaffirming that administration has provided engineering and permitting documentation on the high school access road and will continue to refine estimates and pursue cost savings while moving toward implementation following the board’s vote.
