Trustees weigh pool guest FOB fees, playground-cover estimate and marina ice-machine plan

At a May 13 work session, the Bayshore Gardens Board of Trustees discussed several facilities projects and revenue ideas intended to support operations and capital needs.

Chairman Cori Howell presented a proposed fee structure for non-resident access to pool facilities: "$50.00 a month for non-residents for up to 3 guests and $85.00 a month for pool and pickleball courts," and said the board could set parameters or caps on the number of FOBs sold. Trustees discussed using fees to offset operating shortfalls identified in the budget discussion.

Howell also reported that contractors would not provide firm bids for a playground cover without detailed plans but gave a rough estimate of $22,000 to $28,000 to install a four-post cover over the large playground unit. On pool electrical needs, Howell said she had spoken with the district electrician and the board is gathering figures to move forward; no cost or timeline was available at the work session.

Separately, Howell said a company contacted the office offering to install and maintain an ice machine by the marina at no installation cost to the district; the vendor would pay setup costs and maintain the machine, while the district would receive a percentage of monthly sales. The proposed location was outside the marina gates by the center docks near the sign.

The board did not vote on any of these items at the session. Trustees indicated they would seek formal estimates and return the items for further consideration.

Next steps: staff to collect bids/estimates for the playground cover and pool electrical work and to clarify terms of any ice-machine concession; fee structure for non-resident FOBs may be drafted for future board action.
