Citing low resident attendance, Chairman Cori Howell proposed temporarily dissolving the district’s standing committees and replacing their function with work sessions to encourage greater resident input. Trustee Barbara Susdorf moved to temporarily dissolve the committees and the board approved the motion unanimously.
The board directed the district office to post notices of the new approach in the Bayshore Banner and to evaluate whether work sessions increase resident participation. The decision is temporary and the board said it will revisit the governance structure if needed.
The change is intended to make it easier for trustees and residents to interact directly and to solicit input outside of formal committee structures.
