At its regular meeting, the Santa Paula Unified School District board approved a series of fiscal, programmatic and staffing actions intended to prepare the district for the 2026‑27 year.
The board adopted the district’s proposed final 2026‑27 budget and approved an amended Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Staff reported the county requested two LCAP edits: a line noting the district will carry over $440,990 in Learning Recovery Emergency Block Grant funds into 2026‑27, and an adjustment to Metric 2.1 that focuses the comparison on second‑grade STAR assessment data across subgroups.
Trustees also approved a service agreement with Curriculum Associates to implement i‑Ready across specified grades after a spring pilot that showed placement gains at several sites. Staff said the total contract is $125,731, with $33,600 funded from one LCAP allocation and $92,131 from another; the packet notes a $22,349 discount secured by staff.
The board approved multiple Child Nutrition Services purchases and blanket purchase orders (kitchen oven at the high school, dairy and juice piggyback with Driftwood Dairy, pizza blanket POs, refrigeration service, food safety systems and food purchases) funded from Fund 130. Trustees noted the CNS fund is in a positive position.
Capital and personnel approvals included payment of the Division of State Architect plan review fee for the Isbel main building submission (DSA review typically spans two review levels over about nine months) and establishment of two staff classifications: one executive assistant to the superintendent (formalizing ongoing duties with no net budget increase) and one full‑time mental health therapist funded by a multi‑year grant.
All items described here were approved by voice votes as recorded in the meeting transcript. Staff will return with implementation details, evaluation metrics and any required follow‑ups for the board to monitor.
