Council approves permits, adopts election results and swears in newly elected members

The council approved a special use permit for parcel 202-07-032 to allow a garage/pool house to be used temporarily as a dwelling while constructing a primary residence; staff said there was sufficient land to accommodate the request. The council also approved a variance for parcel 202-19-118 to encroach the rear setback (Allen noted APS needs a 10-foot easement), and approved a special use permit for parcel 202-11-368 to construct a 500-square-foot second residence for a family member; applicant Amy Wiens said she intended to care for her mother.
Elections and swearing-in: Staff member Katie Melser read the certified results of the Nov. 3 general election, confirming Allison Perkins was elected with at least 50% of the vote. Council approved Resolution 2020-14 adopting the election results. Judge Fred Peterson then administered the oath to the elected council members.
