Hubbard-Radcliffe board approves contracts, appointments and LED upgrade; accepts maintenance resignation

At its July 10 meeting the Hubbard-Radcliffe Community School District board approved multiple contracts and appointments, accepted a maintenance resignation and approved hires pending licensure; the board also approved a $68,350 LED lighting bid and a $15,000 cost-shared website contract.
The Hubbard-Radcliffe Community School District Board of Education approved a series of routine contracts, appointments and personnel actions during its regular meeting July 10 in the Success Room at Hubbard School.
The board, chaired by Tracey Rieks, approved the agenda, the June 10 minutes and budget and warrant reports. Superintendent Chris Fenster said he has begun staff meetings and plans to meet with Emergency Management to update the district's safety plans before the school year begins. Principal Cari Teske reported custodial staff finished building preparations and described summer reading visits at the Radcliffe Library; elementary teachers plan to participate in the Radcliffe Days parade.
Most business was handled by unanimous motions. The board approved a Special Education contract for 2024–25 with Roland‑Story Community School District and accepted a quote for the Software Unlimited school accounting system. It approved a Frontline Education quote for attendance and time software and a Memorandum of Understanding with CLS Sustainable to finish outstanding solar-project punch-list items in exchange for the district's final payment. The board approved a bid from Havens Electric for LED lights with dimmer switches at Radcliffe Elementary for $68,350 and authorized a $15,000 website services contract with Neapolitan Labs to be shared with Eldora‑New Providence Community School District.
The board also approved routine operational items: fee schedules for Kids Club, ELP and Preschool (unchanged from the prior year); the 2025–26 elementary and middle school handbooks; summer activities supplemental contracts; miscellaneous bus route rates for 2025–26; and $0.03 fuel discounts from Innovative Ag Services and Radcliffe Farmers Coop Elevator for the 2025–26 year. By motion the board approved employment‑sharing agreements with Eldora‑New Providence for several administrative and extracurricular positions.
The board approved a slate of 2025–26 district appointments, naming Deb England as District Board Secretary/School Business Official and Linda Imsland as District Treasurer, and designating legal counsel, homeless liaison, Title IX/Section 504 coordinators and Level I/II investigators as presented.
By unanimous vote the board accepted the resignation of Seth Last from the building/maintenance/grounds position effective June 25, 2025. Later the board approved employment contracts pending required licensure and background checks for Jenna Wishteya (teacher), Meagan Hadaway (teacher), Kyle Ginther (shared transportation director), Taylor Roll (junior high football coach) and Audrey Farrington (paraeducator); that motion carried with board member Marty Eide recorded as abstaining.
The board set its next regular meeting for Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Radcliffe School Library and adjourned at 4:05 p.m.
