Snowflake council approves moving forward on $1.9–$2.3 million pool renovation

At the Oct. 6, 2020 Town Council meeting, Snowflake council members voted to move forward with Divina Management to begin renovations on the town pool, initiating a demolition/construction discovery phase with the project manager fee set as a fixed amount. The council approved the motion by Lynn Johnson, seconded by Byron Lewis; the motion passed unanimously with Cory Johnson and Allison Perkins absent.

Theresa Harvey, who introduced herself and her qualifications for the project, outlined objectives including use of local vendors, identified known problems and unknown site conditions, presented roofing and site improvement options, and laid out a schedule that aims for a December 2021 opening. Harvey presented a total project estimate of between $1.9 million and $2.3 million and recommended that demolition and discovery be the next step.

Brian Richards told the council the debt service on the project cost would be shared in the same manner as other shared services. Council member Kerry Ballard raised the condition of the existing roof and asked how the project team planned to shore up dangerously deteriorated portions; the presenters said they have a plan to shore up the roof as part of site work. Council member Byron Lewis asked whether the community of Taylor was involved; Richards replied the debt service would be shared like other shared services.

The minutes record the motion to proceed; details such as final financing structure, contract terms with Divina Management beyond the fixed manager fee, and construction start dates were not specified and will be determined during the discovery phase.
