Shorewood approves demolition contract for hazardous home on Club Lane after council questions about tight roadway

The Shorewood City Council approved a hazardous building demolition agreement with Bollig and Sons, Inc. for the property at 5815 Club Lane on July 14.
Councilmember DiGruttolo asked for more detailed information after receiving constituent emails and said she had driven the narrow roadway to assess risks to adjacent properties. "I just wanted more detailed information about how they were planning to accomplish this demolition without destroying properties on either side," she said.
Planning Director Griffiths said city staff and the contractor had toured the site and were aware of the tight conditions on Club Lane. "There is a lot of room on the property for the contractor to store equipment and materials while they are working," Griffiths said, and staff will hold a pre-construction meeting to set expectations and confirm the contractor's planned equipment and methods.
City Administrator Nevinski noted the narrow right-of-way in the area and said that addressing road-width and right-of-way issues is a longer-term planning matter.
The motion to approve the agreement and authorize the City Administrator to execute and administer it passed on a roll call vote; the minutes record the motion passed but do not include a numeric tally.
