Jay County keeps CVET/FIT distribution as budgeted and approves nearly $600,000 in emergency claims

The Jay County Commissioners on Nov. 10 voted to continue distributing CVET/FIT receipts this year according to the 2025 budget percentages after Auditor Emily Franks explained that House Bill 1392 moved distribution discretion to the legislative body.
Franks told the commissioners the law had previously required disbursement based on budget percentages; under the new statute the county may choose how to allocate the funds. She recommended maintaining the current distribution for 2025 because those amounts were already incorporated into the county budget estimates. Commissioners voted to keep the distribution as budgeted (motion by Doug Horn, second Chad Aker).
In other finance business the board approved the payroll docket and monthly county reports (county home, clerk, treasurer). The commissioners also approved a set of emergency claims, including $2,713 to Robert Brelsford and $591,797.85 to Brumbaugh Construction. Emergency claims tied to the Owner-Occupied Rehab Program were approved for AirXRay ($9,000; $10,823; $9,935), Fortitude Consulting ($6,000), Mooreland Roofing & Construction ($1,500) and EGIS ($5,187.40). All motions were approved unanimously.
