Jay County approves HSA contribution increase, reappoints library trustee and names courthouse superintendent

At their Nov. 10 meeting the Jay County Commissioners approved several personnel and administrative items, including increased county contributions to employee Health Savings Accounts, a library board reappointment and a courthouse superintendent appointment.

The board approved Resolution 2025-14 to set county contributions to Health Savings Accounts for 2026 at $125 per quarter toward a single plan and $250 per quarter for an employee-plus-one plan. Doug Horn moved for approval and Chad Aker seconded; the motion passed unanimously.

Eric Hinderliter, director of the Jay County Public Library, requested the reappointment of Tracy Carpenter to a four-year term on the library board. Commissioners reappointed Carpenter by unanimous vote.

The commissioners also voted to extend an offer to Monte Shrack for the courthouse superintendent position; Shrack, who attended the meeting, accepted the position effective Nov. 24, 2025.

The board accepted a $25 donation to the EMA donation fund from the Mississinewa Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (Chapter #4061).
