Snowflake's Town Council on Nov. 3 unanimously approved three procurement and land-use items: awarding the Snowflake Heights Tank Rehabilitation Project to Paul R. Peterson Construction for $107,848, abandoning a never-improved town right-of-way on S Brewer Lane at the request of property owner Robb Hatch, and purchasing a used Caterpillar compactor to replace the town's 2000 model.
Town staff presented the bids and recommendations during the council's Discussion/Action portion of the agenda. Brian Richards recommended Paul R. Peterson Construction as the lowest qualified bidder; Conco Concrete Specialists' bid was rejected as not qualified. The council approved the award by motion (mover: Cory Johnson; second: Byron Lewis) with a unanimous vote.
On the right-of-way item, Richards said the strip of town-owned land on S Brewer Lane had never been improved and did not conform to the town's general plans; the owner, Robb Hatch, requested abandonment. Ballard moved to approve abandonment and Perkins seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Council also voted to purchase a used Caterpillar compactor and to sell the town's older compactor at auction. Flake moved the purchase; Lynn Johnson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The approvals were handled as separate motions but recorded consecutively on the agenda. The council approved a consent agenda earlier in the meeting that included minutes and the October check register.
The council did not set implementation dates or contract start dates on the record; staff indicated the recommended contractor was the lowest qualified bidder and the town will proceed with contracting and project scheduling through its standard procurement process.
