Huxley to amend truck-parking and fireworks rules after resident input

During work-session discussions the Huxley City Council heard resident input on Chapter 69.09 (truck parking) and on the city’s fireworks ordinance and directed staff to prepare amendments.
Several residents attended to ask questions and propose solutions regarding truck parking. Police Chief Nate Albaugh said officers needed direction on enforcement; the council instructed Chief Albaugh to continue enforcing the ordinance as it has been enforced in the past and directed staff to prepare an amendment for council review. No formal vote on a specific amendment was taken at the meeting.
On fireworks, council members noted recent changes in state law require the city to amend its ordinance. Resident Shirley Crippen (485 Bella Vista) offered suggestions on specific days and times. Council reached consensus to amend the city ordinance to comply with state mandates while retaining the current local days and times for discharge where allowed; the amended ordinance is scheduled for a vote at the June 13 meeting.
The council’s direction preserves current enforcement in the short term while staff drafts ordinance language for council consideration.
