Waterford Police Commission names Officer Julie Jordan Officer of the Year, approves minutes and enters executive session

The Waterford Board of Police Commissioners presented its Officer of the Year award to Officer Julie Jordan during the Feb. 9 meeting and handled routine administrative business, including acceptance of January meeting minutes and receipt of department reports.
Commissioner T. Sheridan moved to accept the Jan. 8, 2026 special meeting minutes; Commissioner J. Dimmock seconded the motion, which passed. Commissioner C. Gamble moved to accept the Jan. 12, 2026 regular meeting minutes; Commissioner J. Dimmock seconded and the motion passed.
The commission reviewed correspondence and accepted a batch of monthly department reports for January: traffic, K9, youth, investigative services, training, support services, patrol, animal control, and community engagement. The minutes record that those reports were received but show no related votes beyond acknowledgment.
Interns Caleb Cobb of Mitchell College and Kian Gordy of Waterford High School introduced themselves to the commission.
At 5:29 p.m., Commissioner J. Dimmock moved and Commissioner T. Sheridan seconded a motion to enter executive session, including Chief M. Balestracci. The motion passed unanimously. The board came out of executive session at 6:15 p.m.; the minutes state that no votes or actions were taken while in executive session. Commissioner Sheridan then moved to adjourn at 6:16 p.m.; Commissioner Dimmock seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
