The Lake City City Council voted July 21 to terminate the city’s contract with Service Line Warranties of America after members said the company’s mailings prompted numerous resident calls and confusion.
Council discussed the frequency of resident inquiries and the administrative burden the notices created. On a motion by Council member Gorden, seconded by Bruns, the council voted to terminate the contract (All Ayes).
Council directed administration to carry out implementation steps following the termination and to prepare resident communications clarifying the city’s role. No public comment opposing the termination was recorded at the meeting.
The termination will require staff follow-up to notify the vendor and draft communications to residents; the agenda did not specify a vendor-notification date.
