On Feb. 9 the Inwood City Council approved the consent agenda, which included the Jan. 5 and Feb. 4 meeting minutes, the Treasurer’s Report and a list of bills for payment; the motion by Rick Rozeboom, seconded by Mark Timmerman, carried 5–0.
The meeting minutes list numerous vendors and line items included in the bills approved for payment, including Herm’s Sanitation ($7,327.50), Oleson & Hobbie design fees ($10,134.40), Lyon & Sioux Rural Water ($5,050.80), and Mid American Energy utilities ($3,414.03), among others. The council did not record a consolidated total for the payment run in the minutes.
Deputy City Clerk Travis Mullinix reported several communications and outreach initiatives: updating the city website, creating a city logo for official forms, launching the 'Inwood Connections' newsletter (the January issue was mailed to all households; the February issue is available at local businesses), and starting an Inwood Business Spotlight weekly feature on the City of Inwood Facebook page. Mullinix also said he submitted an AARP grant application for a park shelter cover.
The minutes record that a Community Attractions and Tourism Grant application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority was submitted for the community center; the transcript lists the request as "$1,000,00" — the record appears to mean $1,000,000, and this article corrects that figure accordingly. The Community Center committee continues to revise plans while Hoogendoorn Construction provides estimates and options to reduce costs.
Councilmembers discussed information provided by Sheriff Brian Hilt about an increase in the county’s annual contribution for law enforcement coverage; the minutes indicate discussion will continue. Chris Bixler, representing Inwood Fire and Rescue, met with the council to discuss the department’s annual contribution; no formal funding decision was recorded. The council also set supervised open gym hours at the Inwood Christian School gym (1st and 3rd Wednesdays and Saturday mornings) with a $3 daily fee and named Breanna Faber, Mellisa Berg and Aimee Scholten as supervisors.
The minutes record these administrative items and noted follow‑up in future meetings for several budget and grant matters.
