Organizer briefs Fall City Council on Squidfest plans at Memorial Park; 30+ vendors, shuttle and PBS parking planned

Ryan, an event organizer, briefed the Fall City Council on detailed plans for Squidfest at Memorial Park and answered council questions about parking and layout.
Ryan said there are just over 30 vendors expected and that vendor booths will be set along the trail next to the WPA shelter. “We’re gonna have a couple of food trucks ... a bunch of art activities, kids face painting, balloon making, some other stuff ... the kids petting zoo ... guided nature walk,” Ryan said. He said the Department of Natural Resources will bring a fish-survey boat for demonstrations and a “streamology table” to teach about erosion.
Ryan said the event will mark Memorial Park’s 100th anniversary with historical displays organized by Tamara and interns. Because on-site parking is limited, staff are working with PBS to use its lot for overflow and plan a shuttle between PBS and Memorial Park. Ryan said organizers are asking to post temporary no-parking signs on Riverside from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to preserve morning access for walkers while reserving vendor and event loading areas.
Council members thanked Ryan and suggested moving rocks with a skid loader to improve access to the top parking area. No council action was required beyond receiving the informational update.
