An organizer requested permission to fence off part of the parking area near the lawyer’s office for the Blue Nose 50‑mile bicycle race, which the organizer said is in its fifth year. The proposed closure would be limited to Saturday the 26th from roughly 6:30 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m.; the finish area would allow cyclists to safely bring bikes in and park.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the exact location, whether traffic access to the Legion would be maintained and whether alternate parking would remain available. Staff said access to the Legion would remain and other parking would be available across the lot.
The council moved and seconded the request and approved the temporary closure; one council member said they opposed during the vote. The organizer was wished luck by council members and told to follow up with staff for any detailed logistical coordination.
