Green Isle council considers amending contract with People Services for property inspections

A council member said current practice results in informal, ad hoc reporting to Diane Brown and places council members in uncomfortable enforcement positions. The council discussed whether People Services — which already conducts runs for meter reads and related work — could provide a formal inspection service under an amended contract, noting there would be a cost for added responsibilities and the need to coordinate the change with the city attorney.
"If we want it to be official then I'm happy to open those doors of discussion with People Services to ask what it would cost for an amendment to the existing agreement," a council member said, and volunteered to follow up and report at the next meeting. Staff and the attorney said a detailed report from inspectors would streamline enforcement and reduce individual council involvement.
Council members asked that the staff contact People Services, obtain a cost estimate for contract amendment work, and bring findings to the council and to Diane and the city attorney for review.
