The Green Isle City Council voted to adopt a new comprehensive plan that will guide city planning from 2025 through 2040.
Amy, who presented the Planning & Zoning update, said the document’s cover page was updated to reflect the 2025–2040 timeframe and that the committee had focused on formatting and grammatical edits. She told the council that grant funds would cover printing so the plan can be placed on council members’ desks at the January meeting and that staff will work with the council to set specific KPIs and short-, mid- and long-term goals for chapter eight.
A motion to approve Resolution 2024-25 passed on a voice vote; the record shows the mayor and Diane saying “yes” during the roll call. Council members praised the comprehensive planning committee for completing the work and noted the next steps will include printing and developing metrics for implementation in 2025.
The council did not specify the exact timeline for public implementation steps beyond the next meeting; staff said they will begin meeting in 2025 to set KPI targets and will return with the printed plan. The resolution carries forward the plan as the city’s guiding planning document for the next 15 years.
