Shane Sheets, Mark Wilow and Hunter Pon were sworn in at the Green Isle City Council meeting on Jan. 14, 2025, marking the start of the council’s first session of the year.
"I, Shane Sheets, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, the state of Minnesota, and that I will faithfully, justly and impartially discharge the duties of my office," Sheets recited as he took the oath. Mark Wilow and Hunter Pon followed; each signed paperwork to be returned to city staff for formal filing.
The council next announced the death of longtime council member Ed Zimmerman on Jan. 8, 2025. Council leadership read a prepared statement honoring Zimmerman’s years of service, called for a moment of silence and said staff will begin the process to fill the vacant seat.
Council members said they will research statutory timing and notify the public when the appointment process is finalized; staff indicated an update will be provided at the next council meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
