Motions approved by voice vote included interim boiler maintenance at a quoted $320 per week to a licensed contractor while the city handles boiler issues, and the purchase of a used bobcat brush/broom attachment for $1,700 to maintain sidewalks and streets. Council also approved website navigation and icon updates at a cost not to exceed $225 to improve public access to the city’s comp plan and online materials.
The council discussed compost-site operations and agreed to define “brush” to reduce oversized dumping; one suggested working definition (discussed in the meeting) was branches 1–3 inches in diameter and up to 1 foot long, and staff will draft signage to place at the compost site. The tree committee reported it has acquired mapping software to inventory city-owned trees and has applied for Tree City USA recognition.
On the ordinance in item 12, council members agreed to table the first reading until spring after staff searches for the historical road and engineering maps referenced in the proposal. Members indicated that more research is necessary before proceeding.
