Lamont council approves routine payments, event closure, fee changes and ARP planning

At its July 14 meeting Lamont City Council approved the consent agenda and multiple motions including a street closure for Lamont Day, two new fire department applicants, certification of delinquent mowing fees to taxes, retention of daily whistle signals, and initial plans to use American Rescue Plan funds for water/sewer work.
The Lamont City Council approved a package of routine and administrative measures at its July 14 meeting, including vendor payments, event permits, personnel additions and program planning.
The council accepted payroll and vendor bills under the consent agenda and noted total expenditures of $76,343.57 across funds. It also received the June receipts report showing $33,843.92 in incoming receipts.
For community events, the council granted the Community Club’s request to close Bush Street from 8 a.m. to midnight for Lamont Day on Aug. 7. The council also voted to retain the noon and 6 p.m. whistles as an ongoing community signal.
On staffing and public safety matters, the council accepted Marcus Allan and Avery Fletcher as fire department applicants. Council certified delinquent mowing fees to property taxes for collection (Resolution 21-23).
On fees and rentals, the council kept the Scout House deposit at $75 per day and approved raising the Scout House rental fee to $100 per day effective Jan. 1, 2022. Camping fees remain $15 per night with electrical hookup and $5 for primitive camping.
City Clerk Paula J. Harvey said the city filed paperwork to receive American Rescue Plan funds. Public Works staff will request quotes for a citywide sewer camera inspection and replacement of fire hydrants as possible uses of those funds.
Council also reviewed sidewalk price estimates presented by Councilperson JoDee Devlin (a 4'4" x 20' section estimated at $480–$560) and voted to defer enforcement until funding options and grants could be explored. The meeting ended with a motion to adjourn at 8:59 p.m.
