Iowa Falls board signs off on HVAC work, carpet replacements and a new equipment-breakdown insurance plan

The Iowa Falls Board of Education on June 10 approved a series of contracts and facilities projects, including HVAC work, classroom carpet replacements and a multi-year equipment breakdown insurance plan.
The board unanimously approved a three-year high-school service agreement with Trane totaling $17,646 and separately authorized Trane to tie the variable-refrigerant-flow (VRF) system at Rock Run into centralized controls for $29,600; the VRF work will include parts, installation, training and system monitoring. The board also authorized replacement carpet for three Rock Run classrooms from Olberding Floors for $10,080.92 and replacement carpet for two high-school classrooms from Sharar’s Floor Covering for $16,955.50; both carpet motions passed 4-0.
During contract review the board noted a proposed Equipment Breakdown Insurance plan through Specialty Underwriters: a three-year plan priced at $89,947 annually. The board added approval of the Equipment Breakdown Insurance agreement to the agenda and approved the agenda with that addition earlier in the meeting.
The district also received notice of a Hazel Health telehealth services agreement that will be provided at no cost to the district and multiple Central Rivers AEA service agreements covering special-education and work-based learning coordination. The Trane service and VRF tie-in are intended to improve HVAC reliability and centralized monitoring, district staff said.
All voted items listed in this item passed unanimously (4-0). Further procurement or implementation steps will be handled by district administration under existing purchasing and project procedures.
